Nureka Brand Strategy and Expression


National Energy Resources Australia (NERA) is an industry growth centre established by the Australian Government, with the purpose of ensuring global competitiveness, sustainability, innovation and diversity in Australia’s energy resources sector.

Eliza_ was appointed to develop naming, positioning, strategy and brand expression for a new joint venture – a platform for oil & gas resource innovation, code-named ‘Eureka’.


Applying our Brand Strategy methodology, we held a workshop with the joint board of ‘Eureka’ at the CSIRO building at Curtin, surfacing the purpose and mission, brand values and outline positioning for this new brand.

Entering creative development, we created hundreds of naming options checked against domain names (this has to be a global offering, starting in Australia) and shortlisted those to half a dozen.

We then designed the branding for the chosen name ‘Nureka’ and UX/UI, with the platform being built by one of our software development partners.


Launched at the Australasian Oil & Gas conference in March earlier this year, the Nureka platform is now live and has dozens of innovation challenges from clients such as BHP and Shell being tackled by thousands of inventors, innovators and entrepreneurs from around the world.
